Building on Our Past, New Painting

 Building On Our Past
2015
30” x 35”  Oil on Canvas

This recently completed painting depicts the historic Foshay Tower; once the tallest building in Minneapolis, being overshadowed by the bridge which connects the two Twin Cities over the Mississippi River.

This tower stood as the pinnacle of the Minneapolis skyline, but it was surpassed in rapid succession during the 1970s and onwards. Now, it is mostly shrouded in shadows by the buildings which dwarf it. Yet, even in the shadows of its progeny, reverence is still given to this obelisk of a bygone era.

It has borne witness to the changing landscape, and yet it endures as building on our past continues.
